Esber Rehearsal Hall, Music Building I
Prior to winning the audition with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Andrew Wickesberg held a fellowship position with the New World Symphony. He has returned to NWS numerous times for coaching excerpts, as well as lecturing on entrepreneurship within the modern symphony world. His most recent appearance with them was a Gala performance of Mozart’s Symphonia Concertante under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas.
A resident of Pittsburgh’s historic Mexican War Streets neighborhood on the North Side, Andrew has been deeply involved with neighborhood development, helping steward the redevelopment of the long blighted Garden Theater Block into a thriving urban center featuring Alphabet City, a bookstore and performance space hosting City of Asylum Pittsburgh.
Andrew lives with his wife Katie Wickesberg, a violinist and teacher, and Chocolate Labrador Retriever Coco, who is an absolute maniac. When not planning a renovation of their 1860 Victorian row home, Andrew and Katie can be found trying to exhaust Coco on various trails around Pittsburgh.
